Hayley's Home!!!

And she loves her room...

(which is, by the way, now finished... finally)

...and her lamp...

...and her dog, poor thing (Honeybear, I mean)
She is also enjoying having her computer in her room, but she does venture out. The girl is wasting no time and has a boyfriend now, her first 'official' one. Donovan's a good kid and she's known him for about three years. Yes, he knows about Mellow Yellow. He has also walked the approximately eight miles from his house to ours to see her! They don't 'date', but they 'hang out' and go to movies with other friends, one of whom has guitars and a theater size tv in his basement!

Hayley and her friend Lindy went 'cos-playing' last Friday. Lindy's parents presided over that evening's activities. An explanation of cosplay may require its own blog, and I'm bad enough about maintaining this one! Suffice it to say that they dress up like characters in anime shows and go out in public. They're such geeks! (but in such a good way)

It just does my heart good to see her happy and having some summer fun with her friends. Hayley hasn't spent most of a summer here.....ever. She's usually with Ian for six to eight weeks of the 11-12 weeks between school's out and school's in, so this is new for us, and much more normal for her, I think.

Anyway, she's been home for two weeks now and so far, so good! It's absolutely wonderful to have her back! There was a great big empty in my soul while she was gone and now it's been filled.

It also appears that my evil plan has succeeded. Hayley definitely seems much more emotionally mature and grounded than she was before - more so than can be explained by simply being a year older...and a couple of inches taller...

Ah Rach, that's wonderful and she really looks happy to be home and with her beautiful room too. You must be overjoyed to have her back! I've never heard of cos...thingy before, but it all sounds like good fun, and she has a boyfriend too, huh? Well, it sounds as if she's not taken long to get settled in again. I'm really happy for you Rache...even if she is sprouting ever upwards!

By the way, did you eventually finish all the remodelling/decorating? Your house must be looking amazing now.

And how are things in the project where you work? I do remember there was some question about continued funding at some stage.

Have a lovely weekend, Rache and hopefully it's not the wet one we seem to be having. xx

Glad she is settled back in so quickly... though I am not surprised! She really did miss home...
Cannot say I am surprised about Donavan... I had suspected something was brewing for a while, and thought it might be him, but was not entirely certain and did not want to pry! Those little things, you know.
It seems strange to not have her here, and Scott missed her dreadfully. Justin of course as well, but she and Scott have always had a special bond. Perhaps because they are so close in age.
Ian got home last Monday, but I worked all tuesday then headed into Calgary to see Norm then to Ottawa for a fly in fly out meeting. Got back at 5:30 this morning... and up again by 7! Enough is enough!
Hug H for me.. tell her I love her and miss her.
talk soon

Val - Thank you. Yes, she's been growing like a weed - and more than up if you know what I mean. Yikes!

As far as the remodeling, her room is done including new carpet there, the hallway and the living room. There's a new laminate tile floor in the kitchen too, which I absolutely love. We haven't tackled any of the scraping/painting in the master bedroom or living area yet. There's still lots to do - including a bathroom remodel that I'm dreading. A bit at a time, right? :)

Most of my energy the past few weeks has been spent looking for work. The Earthpark project lost it's funding back in December and right up until July, management was trying to find a way to make it work.

They are still working to find funding for a for-profit version of the project to be built somewhere, but no idea on when that might happen. At least after fifteen months of being supertemp, they did give me a severance package - very unusual for a temp assignment.

I'm looking for something permanent now. The job market is tough, but there are a (very) few suitable high-level admin opportunities, and I've been reassured that my skill set puts me in a good place. Nice to hear....and thanks for asking.

Thanks Anne-Marie! Being unemployed, I do get to spend more time with Hayley!

Hey Stevie, Yeah, Donovan's kind of been 'around' for a long time. I never met him though until the day after Hayley got home. Alex and Lee were with him, so I got to put faces to the names finally. They all seem to be good kids.

I'm sure Hayley and Scott will keep in touch - as much as both of them are online. I know its not the same for him as having her there, but I also know she misses all of you very much as well. I've passed on your hug and your message.

Well, this has become a bit lengthy! It's time to go grill some burgers for supper now, tho, so until next time,

Love,
Rache

Rache, I love the room too, and Hayley looks so happy. She is obviously lucky (and wise?) in her choice of friends, too - always a plus!

Good luck with the job hunting - I don't envy you that.

I really do love that red!

I'm so sorry to hear you are job hunting again Rache! Hopefully it won't be for long. It's great to be told you have the skills for a good position, and I'm sure it's true of you. That's so important for your confidence and self esteem as well. Still, as you say, it gives you more time with Hayley at the moment and that's also important. Take care and good luck dear Rache. xx

Rachel, I'm so happy for all of you. I am still wrestling with keeping my middle one (Bobby) active and interested. Summer can be so tough while I'm working and the kids are out of school.

It must be so nice to have Hayley home again!
